10 YEARS YOUNG BUT SO MUCH HERITAGE

The current Granville Rage Soccer organisation came into existence 10 years ago this year, starting out as Western Rage and competing only in the Senior competition at Division 2.

Initially based at Prairiewood, Rage experienced rapid advancement through Division 1 and into Super League. The start-up aims of the organisation was to have a pathway from junior football to Seniors, giving the Club a continuing nursery of talent and helping young footballers to develop. Unfortunately, being based originally in Southern Districts Association where there was a abundance of Youth League Clubs meant that we couldn't have our own junior program.

Joint Venture

Just when it seemed as though Youth League would be an impossible dream, a lifeline emerged. Granville Association had been competing in Youth League but wanted to focus their management efforts on local Clubs and the Under 11/12 competitions. After some negotiation, Western Rage was re-branded as Granville Rage, and re-located to F.S. Garside Park. This meant that the district that was regarded as the birthplace of football in this country had - for the first time in many years - a State League operation bearing its name.

From those beginnings, both the Association teams and the State League teams played out of Garside, with common livery. Eventually, Granville Association withdrew from the venture to focus solely on their Under 11 and Under 12 program.
